Aukum Management LLC (“Aukum”) is a private real estate investment and asset management company focused on apartments in the Western U.S. Aukum partners with private investors to purchase mid-size apartment assets, typically with between 100 and 300 units. Once an asset has been acquired, Aukum works together with a best-in-class and best-in-market 3rd party Property Manager to deliver stellar operating performance. Aukum and its affiliated entities have over 1300 units under management as of September 30, 2011 and is actively looking for
new acquisitions.
Principals and Key Employees
Jason Fuchs
Jason has been a principal and Managing Director of Aukum since the company's inception and focuses primarily on acquisitions, dispositions, and equity placement. Before co-founding Aukum, Jason served as Vice President of FoxFam LLC, Aukum's predecessor company. Jason brings with him his prior experience as a technology/operations executive having helped to grow a startup market-research firm from $1M to $80M in revenues in 7 years that led to its acquisition valued at $450mm by The Nielson Company. In this position he was responsible for annual operating and capital budgets in excess of $5M and his senior management role involved him in all aspects of operations including finance, legal, information technology, production and development. He was also responsible for the selection, contract negotiation, and oversight of over 20 key vendors. Jason received a BA in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Linton Young
Linton has been a principal and Managing Director at Aukum since the company's inception and focuses primarily on property asset management and due diligence. Before co-founding Aukum, Linton served as a Vice President of FoxFam LLC, Aukum's predecessor company. Linton started his career as an investment executive at a number of major brokerage firms before moving on to a role at West Coast Ship Supply/Marwest. In that position, he provided leadership in creating and growing large scale international sales effort in the shipping industry. Linton developed, maintained, and expanded relationships both with suppliers and international shipping companies, negotiating exclusive contracts and consistently exceeding revenue projections. Linton received a BA in English from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Steve Zimmerman
Steve serves as Aukum's Chief Operating Officer and handles legal, compliance, insurance and accounting for the firm as well as playing a leadership role in managing the placement of debt. Steve brings to the firm his extensive real estate background and network. Steve has served as President of Barclay Associates LLC since 2004 where he has a proven track record in the real estate investment, management and lending arenas. Steve joined Barclay in 1986 and started his career by handling property management tasks for a wide variety of property types including office, industrial, residential and retail. In 1989, Steve took over as Executive Vice President where he played an active role in Barclay's property acquisitions and dispositions, in addition to taking on a supervisory role over the leasing and management of Barclay's real property assets. Steve also developed the property management and accounting software used by the company and actively participated in the financial management of the overall company and its other operating entities, including Barclay Financial Group, which has been a licensed California Finance Lender for over 20 years. Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from University of Virginia in 1986 and earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from San Francisco State University in 1989.
Nimfa Jimenez
Nimfa serves as Aukum's Controller. This is also the role that Nimfa played at Foxfam LLC, Aukum's predecessor company. Before joining FoxFam, Nimfa spent 15 years as Vice President Controller in a number of privately-owned real estate development companies with half billion dollar portfolios held in 40 subsidiaries. Her real estate industry experience covers investment, construction and development, property management, acquisitions and dispositions. Due to the complexity of tax planning and strategy relating to real estate ventures, she pursued a Masters in Taxation degree from Golden Gate University finishing in May 2010. Prior to these companies, Nimfa worked in the banking industry and at an investment firm, a subsidiary of Chase Manhattan Bank, NY, in varying capacities as Controller, Internal Auditor, Director of Branches Administration, and Human Resources Manager.
